Connect to Slack
To connect your Amplitude account with Slack, open the settings page found in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and click "Connect Account". You will then be guided through the authentication flow to connect your Amplitude and Slack accounts.
Adding @amplitude to Slack
Once you have authorized the Amplitude Bot, you will need to invite the Bot to all channels you would like to share Amplitude links in. To do so, simply type /invite @amplitude in a public channel, group message, or private channel. If you invite @amplitude to a private channel, Slack will ask you to clarify that you actually want to invite @amplitude.
Click "Yes, show channel history" and the Amplitude Bot will unfurl all future links to Charts, Dashboards, and Cohorts. Pathfinder, Compass, and Persona chart types will not unfurl.
Turn On Link Previews
If a Shareable Link doesn't unfurl when you post it in Slack, it may be because you have not turned on Link Previews in your Slack settings. Here are Slack's instructions on how to do so:
- In the top-left corner, click on your name to open the Team Menu.
- Select Preferences.
- In the left-hand menu, select Messages & Media.
- In the Inline Media & Links section, check the "Show images..." or "Show text previews..." options.
Interacting With Slack Messages
Our Slack integration also allows you to take action on some objects by using Slack Message Buttons.
For example, you can pin a Dashboard to your sidebar for quick access in Amplitude or add saved Charts to Dashboards that you own through Slack.
If you ever get stuck using the integration or have any questions, just send a private message to the Amplitude Bot by saying "help" or contact us here.
